The intermittent nature of wind makes adequate storage of the electrical energy generated a crucial part of a robust solution for modern electrical grids. In collaboration with the China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI) Prudent Energy has leveraged the 30 wind turbines with 78 MW of generating capacity at the National Wind Power Integration Research and Test Centre operated by CEPRI to demonstrate at a grid scale the ability of vanadium redox flow batteries to store intermittent energy generated by wind turbines before smoothly supplying this energy into the grid.
