Greening Sacred Spacing Logo WGSI Equinox Summit Greening Sacred Spaces Waterloo/Wellington/Dufferin works with faith communities to create an environmentally-friendly place of worship, educate members about environmental issues, plan environmental events and eco-friendly projects. Joining this free network gives faith communities access to free resources including environmental workshop outlines, do-it-yourself energy and waste audits, and information on free programs such as networking/training meetings, events and other issues pertinent to faith communities. THEMUSEUM is a not for profit organization in Waterloo Region that scans the globe for fresh cultural content and uses it to stage experiences that stimulate transformative connections. THEMUSEUM has a living wall, zero-footprint calculator and recycling station to educate kids and adults alike on environmental issues. Our next exhibit Animal Grossology is the “grossest, most entertaining and educational exhibit you’ve ever seen”.

The current work of Sustainable Waterloo is focused on the Regional Carbon Initiative, which facilitates voluntary target-setting and reductions of carbon emissions by organizations across Waterloo Region.

As part of a global network of Transition Town Initiatives, Transition Guelph’s goal is to prepare our community for a lower-energy future in response to the challenges presented by Peak Oil, accelerating Climate Change and environmental destruction, their destabilizing impact on the global economy, and resultant economic contraction. Our focus is on making communities sustainable and resilient through the re-localization of essential resources, public infrastructure and food systems, and emphasizing a shift toward more local, clean, renewable energy.

Words Worth Books is a full service general bookstore that has been a community fixture in Waterloo, Ontario, since 1984. In early 2007 Words Worth switched electricity providers to Bullfrog Power, Ontario’s first 100% green electricity retailer. Their plastic bags are biodegradable, and they have converted their lighting to a more efficient ballast and tube system.
