Voluntary Local Reviews (VLR), a regional parallel to the Voluntary National Review (VNR), are an emerging process by which sub-national governments can report on their progress on Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Like the VNR, the goal of the VLR is to share strategies, successes and failures to assist other communities in their pursuit of the SDGs. Working with partners, WGSI is beginning a pilot project that supports Canadian communities in piloting VLRs that use localized indicators.
Going 100% Renewable with Søren Hermansen – #PowerShiftWR
Søren Hermansen was a driving force behind his home’s – Samsø Island, Denmark – transition to 100% renewable energy. What lessons can communities all over the world learn from Samsø and the winner of "the environmental Nobel" prize?
WGSI brought organizations in the Waterloo Region with an interest in sustainability and energy issues together under the #PowerShiftWR banner for a week (April 17-23, 2016) of public programming that engaged all ages in discussions about our energy choices.
#PowerShiftWR complements WGSI's globally focused OpenAccess Energy Summit by bringing a local lens to the topic of energy access.
