Research Analyst, Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Government of Yukon
MacKenzie Downing is a research analyst at the Yukon Government’s Department of Tourism and Culture where she is currently involved in the development of a sustainable tourism strategy in addition to collecting, analyzing and disseminating a diverse range of tourism market and consumer intelligence to a variety of stakeholders.
A former member of the Canadian National Swim Team and butterfly stroke specialist, MacKenzie went on to complete her Masters in Osteoarchaeology from the University of Edinburgh before joining the MacBride Museum of Yukon History as a collections technician and then communications and marketing coordinator. She has also volunteered at a women’s group that provides an opportunity to share, learn and be vulnerable together.
Passionate about leaving a more sustainable world in place for future generations, MacKenzie says “I hope to share both a Northern perspective and a tourism perspective at the Summit.” Yoga, dog training and reading are some of her favourite pursuits outside of the office.
